Andrew Sinclair - Engineering

I joined Weetabix in August 2002 as an apprentice Mechanical Engineer.

I worked on days in a packaging workshop, learning new skills every day to help compliment my core skills being taught at Tresham College. I completed a four year apprenticeship attaining a HNC in mechatronics, alongside a level 3 NVQ in Mechanical engineering.

After the four years I obtained a job on shift working on breakdowns and continuous improvement programmes.

The training from Weetabix did not stop at this point, they have supported me in becoming a Multi skilled engineer putting me through a NVQ level 3 in electrical engineering. On top of this I have also be able to go on PLC courses, first aid, MEWP, Fork truck courses to name a few.

I am also currently a Step up team leader for my shift which is the first step in the ladder within the Weetabix Company. I am sure if I thrive to progress then Weetabix will support me and develop me.

I currently lead a small team within the production factory delivering consistently great tasting Weetabix products we know and love on time to our customers. We achieve this through daily problem solving, caring for our assets, ensuring they are reliable and develop methods to improve safety, quality, cost, efficiency and output.

The team is fun, passionate and focussed together to achieve the company’s ambitions.

Every day offers a new challenge to overcome to remain competitive in the market and grow as a brand.

To be successful at Weetabix, I believe you require to have a passion for success, be flexible and agile to react to the market, and motivated to be the best you can be.

I love working at Weetabix, 14 great years so far!
